It all began with an idea.

After years of ideating, the 2020-21 PSU Kaibigan Alumni Advisory Board formalized a plan in fall 2020 to spearhead one of its most ambitious initiatives yet in the history of the student organization. The three-year Campaign focuses on two key areas:

• To plan and host PSU Kaibigan’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

• To create 20 scholarships totaling $20,000 over the next 20 years to benefit the PSU Kaibigan Scholarship Program

Drawing from PSU Kaibigan’s 10th Anniversary back in 2013 and committed to ensuring the sustainability of awarding scholarships to incoming Filipino American students at Portland State University, the Kaibigan Alumni Advisory Board partnered with the 2020-21 PSU Kaibigan Executive Board to approve the plan in fall 2020. Kabigan alumni have begun planning meetings to work on the campaign which is formally launching at Kaibigan’s 2021 Pilipino Cultural Night.

Started in 2008, PSU Kaibigan has awarded thousands of dollars to incoming Filipino American students at PSU. By endowing the scholarship and raising $25,000, Kaibigan Alumni hope to deliver on the Campaign’s promise of access and opportunity among Filipino American youth to higher education.
